ETAHT Investigation Unit Urge Banking Sectors, Others To Tackle Human Trafficking And Smuggling

The Edo State Task Force Against Human Trafficking Investigation unit has partnered with the banking sector and other key stakeholders on a one-day seminar in tackling the menace of human trafficking and smuggling on 22nd September 2021.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday, the Special Adviser on Security to the Edo State Governor Mr. Yusuf Haruna (CSP Rtd) gave a brief note on the activities of ETAHT and the role of the Banking sector in curtailing the menace of trafficking. He stressed the need for more collaboration between the investigation unit and the Banking sector, he also highlighted the achievements of the State Government and the Task Force in the fight against trafficking and smuggling.
Also speaking, the chairperson ETAHT who was represented by the chairperson Mrs. Nkechi Megbuzie Head of Counseling Unit in her statement appreciated the participants for honouring the invitation, she emphasized the need for more collaboration with the ETAHT investigation unit with a view to reducing if not totally eradicating the menace of human trafficking and smuggling of persons in the State.
In a related development, Barrister O. Polycap disclosed the legal implications on delays in furnishing the Team with suspects details even with a Court order from a competent court, as well divulging security documents from ETAHT to suspects.
Furthermore, in a closing remark IHONRE (DSP) charged the participants to take the outcome of the lecture to their respective superiors and subordinates as well encourage them to give useful information to the Investigation Unit in curtailing the activities of human trafficking and smuggling in the State.
